"Bowlers Repeat at Sectionals - Head to State"
The bowlers repeated as sectional champions on Saturday, bowling a season high 6135.  Seniors Alyssa Alvarez and Kaitlyn Trusky finished second and third overall.  The team will move on to the IHSA State Meet at the Cherry Bowl in Rockford this Friday.  Preliminary rounds begin at 10:45 a.m.

"Wrestlers Win Regionals"
The wrestling team won its first Regional Championship since 1983 on Saturday.  The team qualified 8 wrestlers to this weekend's sectional meet at Fenton High School.  Winning championships for the Sequoits were:  George Gonzalez (140), Hunter Moseley (152), and Zach Epker (160).  Other sectional qualifiers included: Brandon Schultz (112), Mike Gussarson (119), Mike Morales (125), Al Arden (145), and Teddy Montemayor (171).  On February 23 the team will travel to Leyden High School to wrestle Chicago King for the opportunity to go to the IHSA State Dual Meet Tournament at Illinois State University.

"Cheerleaders Finish 8th at State"
For the 5th consecutive year, the cheerleaders qualified for the final round of the IHSA State Meet.  The team ended up finishing in 8th place.

"Kaitlyn Trusky TRIBLOCAL Athlete of the Month"
Kaitlyn Trusky was named the TRIBLOCAL Athlete of the Month for January.  On Tuesday, February 23, before the Stevenson/Antioch boys' varsity basketbll game, Raymond Chevrolet and KIA will present a check for $500 to the high school in honor of Kaitlyn's accomplishment.  In addition, Raymond will present another chack to Antioch for $3,850 for money raised by Antioch varsity athletes with the Big Play Program during the 2008-2009 school year. 

Congratulations to Kaitlyn and thank you to Raymonds for their support of Sequoit Athletics.

"Lakes at Antioch Boys Basketball (S/V) Rescheduled"
Due to the current situation with the north gym at Antioch, the Lakes at Antioch sophomore and varsity boys basketball games will be rescheduled from Saturday, January 30, to Monday, February 22.  The sophomores will play at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity at 7:00 p.m.

"New Spectator Policies for Basketball Games"

With the move of all sophomore and varsity home basketball contests to the south gym, we will need to limit access into the gym for the safety and convenience of the participants and officials. Spectators will be be admitted into the gyms during time-outs and at the end of quarters. Antioch spectators will sit in the west stands. The student section will be the last section on the south end. If needed, students will be allowed to flow over to a standing room only area in the southeast corner.
