Sophomore Defense Leads Sequoits to Victory

Friday night, the first offensive possession for the Vernon Hills Cougars brought them to the 5 yard line. The Antioch defense then stopped the Cougars on 4 plays and took possession of the ball. Little did the wet fans on a rainy evening know that that may have been the most important possession of the game. Both teams offenses sputtered throughout the game while deal with the elements. The teams played scoreless until the 4th quarter. At that point, Matt Wilfert handled a high snap and punted the ball to the 1 yard line where it was downed by Stephen Smith. Two plays later, Zach Freundt met the Vernon Hills RB in the end zone for the safety. That would be all the sophomore Sequoits would need as the finished the game with a 2-0 victory. The Sequoits (4-1-1, 2-1 division) play their home finale next Friday as North Chicago visits town. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
