Game Summary:
MAROONS 1
Urbana Uni-High 1

Central tie in Frustrating Match

Central's Thursday night game against Urbana Uni High was their third in four days. The previous two games ended in ties with Central playing the better soccer in both but unable to find that decisive game winning goal.
Thursday night was no different, from the first whistle to the last Central dictated play and looked very comfortable on the ball. Julio Zarco continued his impressive form by passing the ball accurately and linking up with fellow midfielder's Micah Walker and Nathan Chisholm. Chisholm has played every second for the third game straight and still manage to put in a great performance. Micah Walker worked tirelessly as usual and looked dangerous whenever he got close to the box. Central had several opportunities in the first half and Clint Miller seemed to be influential in most of them. Midway through the first half Uni High stunned the onlooking crowd as a simple long ball split the Central back line and the forward tucked it away to put them 1-0 up. Central did not looked rattled as they continued to play attractive soccer but the Uni High defenders through their bodies in front of every shot. The first half came to a close with Central dominating the game but frustrated that they were unable to score.
The second half mirrored the first as Central kept the ball for long periods but the decisive final ball was not there. Mark Martindale and Atti Kurthy were steady in the back line and really didn't have much to do. Evan Lotz had yet another fantastic game at right back and he managed to join many of the Central attacks. Joe Daniels, usually the starting goal keeper, was put in to cause trouble in the Uni High back line and with his 6 feet 8 inch frame he did exactly that. Daniels manage to get two very dangerous shots off and flicked several long throws on into dangerous areas of the box. Yet again Central could not capitalize on the chances. Finally Central equalized after 20 minutes of constant pressure. Mark Martindale sent in a fantastic free kick into the box and the impressive Micah Walker headed the ball into the top right hand corner. After the goal, Central did not ease off, instead they put more pressure on the Uni High back line and created several more opportunities. The best of the chances fell to Arturo Lopez. Lopez got on the end of a Daniels flick and poked it past the on rushing Uni High goalkeeper, and like the previous two games the ball struck the post and the rebound was nervously cleared. Jeeyan Rostam Abadi worked hard and sent in a few dangerous crosses but it was not central's night as the clock ran out and the score remained 1-1.
