Tigers finish 3rd at Marengo Invite
The Tigers were looking for a few more big wins to close out their season in their final tournament. Playing tough and aggressive, it looked like they were on their way to accomplishing their goal as they defeated Marengo in the first match 25-11, 25-8.
However, facing Marian Central proved to be a bit more difficult for the Tigers. Playing point for point with the Hurricanes in game one, the Tigers were unable to pull out the win as Marian made a late run of points to win by a score of 25-19. In game two, the Tigers were behind from the start and just couldn't catch up. Running out of weapons to use, the Tigers fell to Marian Central in game two, 25-13.
Feeling the pain of their last match, the Tigers just couldn't recover by the time the next match started. Falling to Morris in game one, 10-25, the Tigers' unforced errors seemed to multiply exponentially. In game two, the Tigers attempted to recover from their errors, but simply ran out of time as Morris closed out the match by a score of 25-19.
Finishing 1-2 on the day, the Tigers finished third place overall. Tired and defeated, the Tigers didn't realize that they had accomplished their season goal of placing in the top three of all four sophomore tournaments! Way to go Tigers!!
