Lakes High completed a clean sweep through the Prairie Division of the North Suburban Conference on Monday as the speedy Eagles raced past host Grant in a dual meet at Camp Henry Horner.
Lakes' boys team won 20-43 and the girls team won 18-43, and both squads finished a perfect 6-0 in the division.
Last year, the Eagles won the division's boys title, but the girls team finished in a three-way tie for first.
This time, there were no ties anywhere.
In the boys race, Grant star Ryan Mamerow won by nearly a minute.
But after that came a wave of blue-clad Eagles.
Ryan Prais and Blake Franson finished together -- 2-3 -- with both timed in 17:02.
Twenty seconds later, Danny McGrath and Kyle White followed, and they were chased into the chute by teammates Joshua Camp, David Kosmen and Nick Lucy. The 2-3-4-5-6-7-8 finish by the Eagles finished off Grant and completed the 6-0 division season.
The girls race was not as close, as Grace Dean and Hannah Whitman finished 1-2 for the Eagles.
Next up for Lakes -- and also for Grant -- is the challenging Wheeling Invitational on Saturday. The conference meet is the following Saturday. PREP CROSS COUNTRY
