Girls Cross Country - Regional Champs
Saturday at the I.H.S.A. Regional Championships at Fox River County Park the leaves were turning and feet were turning over quickly for the Lady Eagles. The course was challenging and slightly muddy in spots, setting the tone for an exciting cross country race. Storming out at the opening, five Eagles were in the top 12 by the first mile. All-Regional honors were earned by Kathryn Dean, Hannah Wittman, and Amanda Timmeman. Dean finished in a comfortable second place, Wittman ran a solid 4th place, and Timmerman put on a bold passing move with a half mile to go to finish in 5th. Kayle Searle raced into the top 10 with her 10th place finish. Samantha Detterbeck was the final scorer with another impressive performance in 12th place. Kristina Umlauf and Samantha Glab were 31st and 34th, respectively. Next up is the I.H.S.A. Sectional Championships at Belvidere 10/31. The top 5 teams of 20 will advance to the State Championship 11/7.
