Girls Cross Country - 5th at NSC Conference Championships
Saturday the Eagles earned a 5th place finish at the NSC Conference Championships.
In the varsity race, the Lady Eagles established themselves through a very quick first mile, moved up into the second mile, and then finished with impressive sprints at the finish. Grace Dean and Hannah Wittman earned All-Conference Honors and personal bests with their 9th and 15th place finishes, respectively. Amanda Timmerman, who was not 100%, just missed All-Conference honors by seconds with her 32nd place finish. Kayle Searle finished in 35th place finish with her first ever sub 20 minute performance. Samantha Detterbeck continued to be the Eagles 5th scorer. Kristina Umlauf and Samantha Glab continued to improve. All three earned personal bests.
In their final races of the season, the junior varsity runners, led by Erin McGill, all ran well and finished their seasons on a high note. This was the last race for Seniors Emma Howard, Allison Laubenstein, Erin McGill, and Megan Permer. McGill, the Lady Eagles 5th runner on the 2008 9th in State team, completed her injury-plagued season on a positive note. Megan Permer and Allison Laubenstein earned personal bests, and Emma Howard finished an injury-plagued season on a positive note by running the race with Laubenstein. Frosh McKayla Pietrowski, Caitlin Walczyk, Veronica Sprague, and Ashley Van Slochteren cruised to substantial personal records. Frosh Nikki Ott equaled her personal best. Sophmores Tanya Stanley and Cathy Pease improved. Juniors Ashley Parmly and Jenelle Christiansen had personal bests, with Christiansen beating her personal record by 45 seconds.
Next week the Eagles look to compete well at the I.H.S.A. Regional Championships at Fox River Park, WI. The girls Varsity race is at 2:00.
