Big development in Lake Forest
Outlook: Lake Forest Academy will be looking to make a "big" statement this season in a "small" conference, the Class A Independent School League. During the off-season, via transfer, the Caxymen inherited two of Puerto Rico's finest young players in 6-11 Angel Garcia and 6-9 junior David Sanchez. Garcia, who has played for Puerto Rico's national team, has already received offers from Wisconsin and Iowa—and he's just a sophomore. A few midmajor programs have shown interest in Sanchez. The Caxys will be looking to dethrone Francis Parker, winner of the last two conference titles. Over the last two seasons, the Colonels have posted an overall record of 51-6 and a league mark of 23-1. Elgin Academy's 5-11 Justin Anthony, who averaged 13 points and six assists, and University High's John Kinsella (16-point average) will challenge for league MVP honors. In any event, Francis Parker, Latin, Elgin Academy and U-High all figure to be chasing Lake Forest Academy.
