CHICAGO TRIBUNE'S PREVIEW OF PUBLIC LEAGUE RED WEST WHICH INCLUDES MANLEY
chicagotribune.com >> Sports >> High School

Public League Red West
Crane should be wary of Farragut
Outlook: Just a few of life's certainties: The sun will rise in the east, there will be winter days in Chicago when the wind feels like it's ripping your face off, and teams will gear their entire defensive game plan to stopping Crane's Sherron Collins. "It's not like last year or the year before, when we had another all-section or all-league player," Crane coach Anthony Longstreet said. "I really don't have another go-to guy other than Sherron Collins." Unless he finds one, repeating as Red West champion may be difficult, with a young but talented and headstrong Farragut team ready to make a leap. The Kansas-bound Collins should be enough to keep Crane near the top. But Farragut, led by sophomore Isiah Williams, and Marshall, with Toledo-bound Patrick Beverly paving the way, have as good a shot as anyone to win the title. "These guys, they don't know any better," Farragut coach William Nelson said of his young team, which also features 6-9 sophomore Mike Dunigan. "They don't know they're supposed to lose."
