Hartsburg-Emden Captures Tournament Crown
Hartsburg-Emden High School senior forward Scott Ubbenga scored a team-high 18 points as the Stags defeated Beardstown 72-40 Tuesday night in the championship game of the Warrior Classic basketball tournament at Athens.
Guard Josh Conrady scored 14 points, reserve Dakin Bolen chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds, and Gary Rademaker added nine points for the Stags (4-0).
Curt Conrady and Josh Conrady each had four steals for Hartsburg-Emden, which shot 57 percent from the field to 33 percent for Beardstown.
Adam Hamilton paced Beardstown with 14 points.
Hartsburg-Emden rolled to a 48-17 halftime lead. The Stags finished 12 of 16 from the free-throw line, while Beardstown was 9 of 17.
Hartsburg takes on Illiana Christian in the 1:00pm game of the Playing for Pride Shootout.
