FROM CHICAGO TRIBUNE - PREVIEW OF LEO AND CATHOLIC LEAGUE NORTH
chicagotribune.com
Catholic League North
If Leo is caught, Loyola may do it
Outlook: Once again, St. Rita coach John Bonk has elected to go with youth to better his program in the long run. And once again, he is well aware of the consequences that could carry in the Catholic North. "It's nasty," Bonk said. And how. The league is a virtual hornet's nest, with contenders everywhere you look. Leo has talented juniors buoying a huge front line led by 6-9 Donald Lawson. The Lions also welcome back guard Kijaune Leach, declared eligible by the IHSA on Nov. 9. Fenwick boasts 6-6 Peter Flowers and a solid core of returning players. Some coaches think it's Loyola's year, riding seniors Matt Steger, Matt Perkaus and junior Jeffrey Jordan. St. Ignatius, St. Laurence and Gordon Tech have scrappy returning cores as well.
